Namalsk lore: Project Athena, Lantia and the EVR disaster
A readable lore archive built from the in-game Namalsk documents: what NAC found under the island, why the EVR events matter, how Phoenix and Netanya connect to it, and why Lantia is the endgame destination.
Namalsk starts as a remote post-Soviet island where NAC discovers an organic alien structure under the southern mountains. Project Athena is built around that discovery: A1 studies the structure directly, A2 supplies experimental FLAX power, and A3 becomes the hidden backup site meant to recreate the wormhole with human-built technology.
The project escapes control in 2011. EVR tests destabilize the island, the Russian Federation and TF Bering clash with NAC, and a nuclear strike is transferred through the Athena wormhole toward Lantia. The surviving documents imply that the other side treats this as an attack, and the VEGA-7 event becomes part of the wider collapse.
The player-facing endgame mirrors the lore. The NAC access card, Lantia pulsar locator, Phoenix 3D printer, LEHS suit, A2 button during an EVR event, and A3 portal are not random puzzles: they are the remains of the same Athena chain that tried to open a path between Earth and Lantia.
Timeline
Namalsk lore timeline
2008-2011
This is not a strict official chronology for every server, but the clearest route through the documents and the vanilla Namalsk endgame.
Cold War - 2008
Namalsk becomes valuable
Old Soviet infrastructure, uranium mining around Sebjan and the hidden alien structure make the island useful long before survivors arrive.
2008
Project Athena is formalized
NAC documents describe A1, A2 and the planned A3 facility as a system for studying and powering a wormhole-capable structure.
June-July 2011
A1 starts and the crisis ignites
Official operations begin, EVR resonance becomes unstable, and the conflict with Russian and TF Bering forces moves from secrecy into open crisis.
August-October 2011
A3 and Lantia take over the story
After A1 is lost, Athena-3 continues underground. Lantia expeditions, PRS and VEGA-7 reports show the project is no longer just about Namalsk.
Phoenix logs
Outsiders reach the island
The Phoenix crew follows an SOS to SKAT-12, rescues Netanya, learns about NAC operations and becomes tied to the island route.
Survivor route
The player rebuilds the path
Modern survivors use the remaining gear and facilities to stabilize A2, access A3 and make the short, dangerous trip to Lantia.
Lore
Key lore threads
NAC / PRS
NAC and Project Athena
NAC is the organization running Namalsk operations. Its documents present Project Athena as scientific progress, but the story reads like a cover operation that becomes too large and too dangerous to hide.
EVR, A2 and unstable power
EVR events are tied to resonance and the Athena power chain. In gameplay this matters because the A2 beam-room button can only be used during an EVR event; without stabilization the transfer can throw the player to a random point.
Phoenix and Netanya
The Phoenix logs turn the big project into a human survival story. Adam Walker and Netanya Keitner connect the oil rig, SKAT-12, NAC documents and the route back onto Namalsk.
Lantia and PRS
Lantia is treated as a real off-world destination with its own station, environment, biology and danger. PRS reports show stranded researchers trying to survive after Earth contact fails.

Interactive map
How the lore connects to the interactive map
Namalsk
Open the Namalsk item search
Search the Namalsk map for items such as NAC access card, Lantia pulsar locator, LEHS, APAC, EMAC, Muon Detector, NBC gear or Phoenix to see possible vanilla spawn areas on our interactive map.
Server owners can change loot, so exact spawns vary, but the map can still show the likely vanilla locations and the route logic.
The A2 step is important: the button is meant to be pressed during an EVR event. If the route is not stabilized, the player may be thrown to a random map point instead of progressing cleanly.
The Phoenix oil rig matters because it ties the story to the 3D printer and endgame equipment, especially the LEHS suit needed for Lantia-focused runs.
Use the interactive Namalsk map to search the vanilla item spawn zones behind the lore route.
Project Athena is NACs attempt to study and use an alien structure under Namalsk to create a wormhole route, eventually connecting the story to Lantia.
What is Lantia?
Lantia is the off-world destination reached through the Athena portal chain. In the lore it has PRS, alien spires, unusual biology and stranded researchers.
Why does the A2 EVR button matter?
A2 is part of the stabilization route. The button can be used during an EVR event; if the route is not stabilized, the player can be teleported to a random map location.
How does Phoenix connect to Namalsk lore?
The Phoenix oil rig logs follow Adam Walker and Netanya, linking the rig, SKAT-12, NAC documents and the route toward Athena facilities.
Can the item spawns change on servers?
Yes. Custom servers can change loot tables, but the DayZ Titan interactive map can still show the likely vanilla spawn areas for the Namalsk items.
