About the Chernarus map

ChernarusPlus is the original DayZ map and still the most played terrain in the game. Set in a post-Soviet Eastern European republic, it stretches over 225 square kilometers of coastline, farmland, dense forests, industrial towns and large inland cities. Most players spawn along the southern coast and work their way inland, where the loot grows stronger and the danger rises toward the northern military zones.

Use this interactive Chernarus map to plan routes, scout cities like Chernogorsk, Elektrozavodsk, Berezino and Novodmitrovsk, and locate the Northwest Airfield, Tisy and Balota. Toggle layers for vehicle spawns, helicopter crashes, water wells, hospitals and loot tiers, search for any item by name, and measure travel distances with the built-in ruler.

Key locations on Chernarus

From the southern coast cities where most players spawn to the high-tier military bases in the north — the places that shape every Chernarus run.

The largest military zone on the map and the classic endgame destination: barracks, hangars and the control tower spawn top-tier weapons and gear. It is also the single biggest PvP magnet on Chernarus, so expect company.

Tisy Military Base

Tucked into the far north-west corner, Tisy holds some of the best loot on Chernarus and is far from the coast, so it is quieter than NWAF — but a long, exposed walk back. A favourite of geared players.

Chernogorsk

The biggest southern coastal city ("Cherno"). Dense civilian, commercial and industrial loot, a hospital and a fire station make it a top early-game stop — and a constant fresh-spawn battleground.

Elektrozavodsk

The other big southern city ("Elektro"), dominated by its power plant. Plenty of loot and a hospital, plus the hilltop and cranes that make it a notorious sniper and PvP spot.

Berezino

A large city on the east coast with a long industrial waterfront and a hospital. Often a high-population hub thanks to nearby spawns, and a natural staging point for runs toward the northern military zones.

Green Mountain

A central hilltop with a radio tower and a small walled military compound — mid-tier loot, commanding views and a long-running place in DayZ lore and ghost stories.

Good to know on Chernarus

Loot tiers

Chernarus uses tiered loot: the coast is low tier, and gear improves the further inland and north you push. The best weapons and military gear sit in the central-north tiers around NWAF and Tisy.

Contaminated zones

Static toxic zones (such as Pavlovo and the wrecked cargo ship off the north-east coast) and roaming dynamic gas events hold strong loot but need a full NBC suit, gas mask and filters.

Helicopter crashes & convoys

Dynamic helicopter crash sites and police/military convoys spawn around the map with high-tier weapons and rare attachments. Use the map's event markers to plan a sweep between them.

Where to loot on Chernarus

  • Top-tier weapons & military gear: Northwest Airfield and Tisy Military Base. The smaller Balota and Krasnostav airstrips add more military loot closer to the coast.
  • Civilian gear, food & medical: the coastal cities (Chernogorsk, Elektrozavodsk, Berezino) and their hospitals and fire stations.
  • Pistols, ammo & police gear: city and village police stations across the map.
  • Rare weapons & attachments: dynamic helicopter crash sites and military convoys (watch the event markers).

Survival & route tips

  • You spawn on the south or east coast: grab basics in the nearest town, then head inland and north as you gear up.
  • Watch temperature: rain and night drop your body heat fast — carry a way to make fire and stay dry.
  • NWAF is loud and contested; if you only need gear and not a fight, Tisy or the smaller airfields are calmer.
  • Use the distance ruler and event markers on the map above to plan a loop between military zones and crash sites.

ChernarusPlus DayZ map FAQ

Search items, wells, vehicles, spawns and cities on Chernarus

This ChernarusPlus map is an interactive DayZ map, not only a static image. Use the search box and layers to find item loot zones, vehicle spawn points, player spawns, water wells, hospitals, military buildings and city names such as Berezino, Chernogorsk, Elektrozavodsk, Zelenogorsk or Novodmitrovsk.

What does this ChernarusPlus DayZ map show?

This interactive DayZ map shows ChernarusPlus, also known as Chernarus+, the classic post-Soviet survival terrain and one of the most played DayZ maps. You can zoom, pan, inspect towns, roads, coastlines and inland areas, and use it while planning routes, bases, loot runs or server events.

How big is the ChernarusPlus map in DayZ?

ChernarusPlus uses a 15,360 x 15,360 meter playable world, which is about 236 square kilometers. It combines coastline, forests, fields, villages, military zones and large cities, giving players long travel routes and plenty of room for survival, PvP and base building.

Why is ChernarusPlus the most popular DayZ map?

ChernarusPlus is popular because it is the original DayZ experience: a large survival map with recognizable spawn routes, strong loot progression, famous locations and years of community knowledge. Many vanilla, modded, PvP, PvE and roleplay servers still use Chernarus as their main map.

What are the most important locations on ChernarusPlus?

Key ChernarusPlus locations include Chernogorsk, Elektrozavodsk, Berezino, Novodmitrovsk, Vybor, Zelenogorsk, the Northwest Airfield, Tisy Military Base, Balota Airfield and the northern hunting and forest areas. These places are useful for navigation, loot planning and finding player traffic.

Can I use this map to find or play on ChernarusPlus servers?

Yes. Use the map to plan your route, then browse DayZ servers running ChernarusPlus on the launcher site. Chernarus servers range from vanilla survival to heavily modded PvP, PvE, trader, base-building and roleplay communities.

How do the coordinates on this DayZ map work?

The coordinate panel follows your cursor over the ChernarusPlus map and lets you copy the current position. This is useful when sharing meeting points, base locations, event areas or admin reports with other DayZ players.

Can I search for items, buildings and spawn locations on this Chernarus map?

Yes. The interactive ChernarusPlus map includes a unified search for places and item loot data, plus marker layers for buildings, military areas, water wells, vehicle spawns, player spawns and other survival points. Search for an item or settlement name, then use the highlighted zones and markers to plan your route.

Where can I find cars on Chernarus in DayZ?

Enable the vehicle spawn layer on the Chernarus map to see possible car and vehicle spawn points. DayZ vehicle availability depends on the server economy, restarts and player activity, so the markers show possible spawn locations rather than a guaranteed car at every point.

Where are water wells on the DayZ Chernarus map?

Water wells are shown as a point-of-interest layer on the ChernarusPlus map. Turn on the water well markers or search nearby towns such as Berezino, Chernogorsk, Elektrozavodsk or inland villages to plan safe drinking routes.

Can I search Berezino and other Chernarus city names?

Yes. The map search supports settlement names, so you can search for Berezino, Chernogorsk, Elektrozavodsk, Zelenogorsk, Vybor, Novodmitrovsk and smaller villages. Selecting a result jumps the interactive map to that city or place.

What does the DayZ Chernarus tier map and loot tier layer mean?

The Chernarus tier map shows which parts of the terrain belong to different loot values or loot tiers. Coastal starter areas usually have lower tier loot, while inland, northern and western areas such as Northwest Airfield, Tisy and major military zones lead toward higher value gear. Server economy settings can change the exact result.

Where can I find better loot on Chernarus?

Better loot is usually found by moving inland from the coast and reading the loot tier layer together with towns, military buildings, hunting areas and industrial points. Berezino, Chernogorsk and Elektrozavodsk are useful early, while Vybor, Zelenogorsk, Northwest Airfield and Tisy are stronger routes for weapons and rare items.

Where can I find weapons and military loot on Chernarus?

For weapons, enable the military area, military building and loot tier layers. Balota Airfield, Northwest Airfield, Tisy Military Base, Pavlovo, Zelenogorsk and smaller checkpoints are good places to check. The map shows where to search based on loot zones, not a guaranteed item on every server.

Where can I find medicine, hospitals and NBC gear?

For medicine and bandages, enable the hospital layer and search larger towns such as Berezino, Chernogorsk, Elektrozavodsk or Novodmitrovsk. For NBC gear and contaminated zones, use the toxic, contaminated zone and loot layers, because exact availability can vary by server.

Where can I find food, animals and survival gear?

For food and survival gear, check villages, towns, hunting buildings, farms and the animal territories layer. Coastal towns are useful at the start, but for steadier survival routes, look for inland villages, wells, forest areas and animal spawn zones along your path.
