DayZ server types FAQ

What do these DayZ server statistics show?

This page breaks down the currently active DayZ servers by how they play and how they are set up. It shows the live number of online servers and players, and splits them by playstyle, official vs community hosting, mod profile and DayZ-Expansion usage, all from real, regularly updated server data rather than guesswork.

What does the playstyle split (PvP, PvE, Roleplay, Mixed) mean?

It groups online servers by their main playstyle. PvP focuses on player-versus-player combat, PvE on cooperative survival against the environment, Roleplay on in-character communities and Mixed on a blend. The classification is a heuristic based on server name, keywords and settings.

What is the official vs community split?

It shows how many online servers are official servers (run by the game developer) versus community servers (run by players and hosting providers). The vast majority of DayZ servers are community-hosted.

What does the mod profile chart (modded vs vanilla) show?

It shows how many online servers run mods versus pure vanilla servers with no mods. Most populated DayZ servers are modded; vanilla servers keep the unmodified base game.

What is the Expansion share and what counts as an Expansion server?

Among modded servers, it shows how many run the popular DayZ-Expansion mod suite (Core, Bundle, Vehicles, AI and the other DayZ-Expansion mods). A server counts as Expansion when it runs at least one DayZ-Expansion mod.

How often is the data updated and where does it come from?

The statistics are built from continuously scanned public DayZ servers and refreshed regularly, with the same trust filters used across the site, so the splits reflect the live server landscape without putting load on the game servers.
