This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. We have tried to describe what the site actually does rather than cover every theoretical case.

The short version: you can browse the whole site without an account and without analytics. If you sign in or buy something, we keep the minimum needed to give you your licence and support it. We never see your card details.

Who is responsible

The data controller is Adam Kormendi, an individual based in Hungary, operating dayz-launcher.com. You can reach us through the contact form on this site for any privacy request.

Browsing without an account

You can use the server browser, statistics, maps and knowledge base without signing in and without giving us anything.

Our servers keep short-lived technical logs (including your IP address) to keep the service running and to spot abuse. The site sits behind Cloudflare, which also processes your request in order to deliver the page and block attacks.

If you sign in

You can sign in with Steam, Discord or Google. We do not run our own passwords, so we never see one.

From the provider we receive and store your provider account ID, your display name and your avatar image, plus an access token which we store encrypted. We receive your email address only when the provider supplies it — Discord and Google do, Steam does not. Most of our accounts therefore have no email address stored at all.

We also record when you last signed in, and keep a session cookie so you stay logged in. That cookie is necessary for the site to work and is not used for advertising.

If you buy something

Purchases in the Titan Shop are processed by Lemon Squeezy (Sold through Link, LLC) as Merchant of Record. You enter your payment details on their checkout, not ours.

We never see or store your card number, bank details or billing address. What comes back to us is the fact that an order was paid, so we can attach the licence to your account.

Lemon Squeezy processes your data as their own controller for the sale, invoicing and tax. Their privacy policy applies to that part.

We keep your order and licence records so you can re-download what you bought, and because we may need them to answer a refund or tax question later.

Licence checks on servers

Our paid add-ons report back which server is using which licence. This is how we tell an authorised install from a pirated one.

For each report we store the reporting server address and port, the server name and install identifier, the licence it used, and the times we first and last saw it.

This is server information, not player information. We do not collect anything about the people playing on your server, and we do not read your server files.

You see these reports in your account and you decide which servers to allow or block.

If you write to us

The contact form stores your name, email address, subject, category and message, so we can reply. Along with it we store your IP address, browser user agent, app version and language, which we use to fight spam and to understand technical reports.

The contact form uses Google reCAPTCHA to keep bots out. Google processes your interaction with it under their own terms.

Analytics, and how to say no

We use Google Analytics to see which pages people use, so we can improve the site.

Analytics only runs if you accept it. The first time you visit, a banner asks you. Until you press Accept, the Google Analytics script is not loaded at all and nothing is sent to Google. If you decline, it never loads.

Your choice is stored in your browser. You can change your mind at any time with the button below.

None of the free tools require analytics, and declining does not degrade anything.

Embedded video

Some product and guide pages embed YouTube video through youtube-nocookie.com, which avoids YouTube cookies until you press play. If you play a video, YouTube processes that under their own terms.

Why we are allowed to hold this

Under the GDPR our legal bases are:

  • Performance of a contract: your account, your licences, delivering downloads and supporting them.
  • Legitimate interest: keeping the service up, blocking abuse and spam, and enforcing our licences against redistribution.
  • Consent: analytics, which you can refuse and withdraw.
  • Legal obligation: records we have to keep in connection with a sale.

How long we keep it

Account data is kept while your account exists. Order and licence records are kept for as long as we may need them for support and for tax and accounting purposes.

Licence-check reports are kept while the licence is active, so you can review them, and are cleared out when they are no longer useful.

Contact messages are kept until the matter is closed and long enough to handle a follow-up.

Technical logs are short-lived and rotate automatically.

Who else sees it

We do not sell your data and we do not share it for advertising.

The services involved in running the site are:

  • Lemon Squeezy (Sold through Link, LLC) — payments, invoicing and tax, as Merchant of Record.
  • Steam (Valve), Discord and Google — only if you choose to sign in with them.
  • Google — Analytics (with your consent) and reCAPTCHA on the contact form.
  • YouTube — only if you play an embedded video.
  • Cloudflare — delivery and protection of the site.

Transfers outside the EU

Some of the above providers are based in the United States and may process your data there, under the safeguards their own terms and the applicable transfer mechanisms provide.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict what we do with it, object to processing based on legitimate interest, or hand your data over in a portable form.

Write to us through the contact form and we will deal with it. If you ask us to delete your account, we will — but be aware that this also removes the licences attached to it, and we cannot restore them afterwards.

If you think we handled your data wrongly, you can complain to the Hungarian supervisory authority (NAIH, naih.hu), or to the authority in the EU country where you live.

Children

This site is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes will be announced on the site.

Want to see, correct or delete your data? Ask us and we will handle it.
